not a fretless, dude...he's got a split signal path...his bass output goes to an ab-y box and then goes to a chorus, delay, reverb eq on one side and chorus, distortion eq on the other side, then goes to another box that the signal can be combined...then it goes to a peavey max preamp and then to whatever cabs he's using at the time...on the life is killing me tour, he had 3 8x12 cabinets...it was pretty deafening (sickeningly so)...all of his pedals are boss pedals...other than the old alembic he plays, he has a couple fernandes basses

He currently endorses both the Peavey TVX 410 EX and the TVX 115 EX cabs (both 8 ohms) though I've seen him with 8x10s and Peavey's Tour 410s.
Amps: He uses a Peavey max preamp and discontinued Peavey Power amps. Cabs: He uses 6 Peavy 2x10+1x18 cabs with custom JBL speakers. Effects: He uses Boss distortion, chorus, tremolo, and delay. He also uses a graphic EQ to shape his distortion. Reproducing the tone: If you want to reproduce his tone (without spending tens of thousands of dollars), I recommend a Peavey Kilobass (altered for high gain) and a generic 8x10 cab. For the bass you should look for an axe with good top end (I use a Tobias) to help with the distortion. The graphic EQ is VERY important if you want to get his crunchy tone. Also, a sonic maximizer will help with the bottom end...this rig will get you close to his tone, but it's near-impossible to replicate because he has added so many custom features to his gear."
